Message from the President

President, Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility

As the gavel for leadership of the SREI is passed, I would like to thank my predecessors, in general, and Marc Fritz, M.D. in particular for their many contributions to our Society. In the coming year, we have many initiatives which are well underway, which we hope to steward further along. First is our sponsorship of the SREI fellow retreat for first and third year fellow, which will be held in Park City, Utah on July 30 – August 2, 2008. We are also exploring the potential of having an additional retreat for individuals who have already completed their fellowship. We would appreciate your feedback of whether you would consider this to be beneficial, as well as the timing post fellowship to participate (e.g. how many years after completion), as well as topics and activities which would be of value to include in the agenda.

A second initiative, which has been coordinated by our Associate Members, is the development of an updated classical reference list. The list is available on the SREI website.

A third initiative relates to the difficulty some of our members have had in receiving reimbursement for conduct of ultrasonographic studies. We continue to be in discussions with ASRM, ACOG, ABOG, and AIUM about this issue.

We need your input on many topics, in addition to the consideration of an SREI retreat for members in practice. These include important issues to you in your practice which we should be addressing, as well as topics for presentation at our annual meeting including postgraduate courses, seminars, and topics for round table presentations. Lastly, we continue to look for individuals who would like to become more involved in SREI and its functions.
